Structured Life Review

When we look back on our life experiences and assess the events of our past, we gain insight and self-awareness. We come to understand the impact of those events on the present and the future.

Structured Life Review is an individual process of reflecting on and talking about your life. This process begins with your earliest memory and progresses through your life to the present.
As you reflect on both positive and negative aspects of your life and evaluate the significance of these events, unresolved conflicts are brought to the surface and addressed. Understanding of yourself and your life expands, and new meaning arises leading to greater acceptance of who you are and how your life was lived.

The potential therapeutic benefits from a Structured Life Review may include:

• Increase self-esteem
• Reduce depression
• Reconnect with friends or family
• Find understanding and forgiveness
• Empower a sense of coping and well-being
• Increase life satisfaction by finding new meaning and acceptance for one's life as it was living

Structured Life Review process is:

Individual: Sessions are held on a one-to-one basis, not in a group
Structured: A counselor guides the process using key questions to move you through each developmental stage of life
Time Limited: Eight to ten weekly sessions that last one hour each
Evaluative: The process of introspectively weighing and valuing life events
Confidential: Information shared in the Life Review is not shared with others
Respectful: The individual sharing their stories decides what to share and what not to share
